History
In March 2013, United Metro Energy purchased the Greenpoint Terminal, the Calverton Terminal, and other assets of Metro Fuel Oil, Metro Terminals, and their affiliated companies, preserving the jobs of over 130 workers together with their proud tradition of family-oriented heating oil service. With the financial strength and strategic assets of the Red Apple Group and over 70 years of tradition in the fuels business, United Metro Energy is uniquely positioned to deliver excellent 24 x 7 service and value to its customers as one of the largest retail residential and wholesale energy providers in the New York Metropolitan Area.
Today, United Metro Energy has a delivered-in and a natural gas business. United Metro Energy provides full service to its customers and delivers heating oil to the New York Metropolitan Area and Long Island.
United Metro Energy is a pioneer and a leader in bringing biofuels to the New York Metropolitan Area, the largest heating oil market in the United States. United Metro Energy's affiliate, United Biofuels, Inc., is building one of the largest state-of-the-art advanced biodiesel production facilities in the New York Metropolitan Area, with a production capacity of 50 million gallons per year. New Yorkers will be proud to power their vehicles and heat their homes and buildings with clean biofuels produced and blended right here in Brooklyn, New York.
United Metro Energy also operates a biodiesel and petroleum storage facility in Calverton, Long Island. The creation of the Calverton Complex allows United Metro Energy to transport its fuel via rail spur and to have a guaranteed supply for the East End of Long Island.
United Metro Energy is one of the first companies in the country to earn the coveted BQ-9000 Certified Marketer designation from the National Biodiesel Accreditation Program, a quality control official recognition from the National Biodiesel Board, which assures that biodiesel is being produced to acceptable quality standards.
