John A. Catsimatidis is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of United Metro Energy Corp. He is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, President, and the founder of Red Apple Group, Inc., which is a holding company for a number of his businesses, including United Refining Company, Gristedes Foods, Red Apple Supermarkets, and United Riverhead Terminal, Inc.
Nelson Happy is Vice Chairman of United Metro Energy Corp. As an attorney, Nelson has provided advice to scores of public and private corporate clients on a wide variety of legal issues including labor and employment, securities, contracts, negotiations, financing, environmental regulations, risk management and aviation. He has successfully prosecuted and defended many tort and commercial litigation matters. Mr. Happy has also been the managing partner of two law firms and CEO of three public companies and three private companies. He is a former law school professor and dean. Nelson has a JD from Columbia University School of Law and a BS from Syracuse University.
John McConville is the President of United Metro Energy Corp. He has 35 years experience in terminal operations, supply, trading, distribution, environment, and health, sales, trucking operations, logistics, and marketing refined energy products. John holds customer service, integrity and supply reliability in high regard. John brings to UMEC™ his experience at Philadelphia Energy Solutions and the Hess Corporation. He has been Vice President of New York Oil Heating Association's Board of Director since 2008 and he graduated from Pace University. As a veteran of the United States Air Force. he is proud to have served his country. John enjoys spending time with his wife of over 25 years and their 3 sons.
Anthony Valente is Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of United Metro Energy Corp. He has more than 15 years of legal experience in commercial litigation, environmental litigation and permitting, lending, commercial transactions, real estate, labor and employment law and corporate governance. He has earned a BA degree from Fordham University and earned his JD at Pace University School of Law.
Al Mariani joined United Metro Energy Corp. as Chief Financial Officer in September 2016. Mr. Mariani is a CPA and CGMA. Al was previously employed by Precision Global as its CFO for a number of years managing its 18 international locations. Earlier in his career, he held various positions as Controller, Corporate Controller and Vice President of Finance. In addition to working in the packaging industry at Precision Global, Al has also worked in the automotive industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Al started his career with KPMG and spent time at Lone Star Industries and Dyson-Kissner-Moran, a private equity firm. Al graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
Robert Leavy is the Vice President of Energy Procurement and Supply Chain for United Metro Energy Corp. He has been with the company since 1998 and has over 25 years of extensive experience in the energy industry. Primarily, Robert's responsibility involves trading United Metro’s product inventory in order to hedge and protect it against market volatility. Additionally, Robert is responsible for securing supply contracts for gasoline, distillates, natural gas, and residuals, as well as managing all aspects of the natural gas business at our affiliate United Metro Energy Service Corp. Robert’s other responsibilities include oversight and management of large municipal and corporate fuel contracts, wholesale business, fixed price contracts and high profile sales. Robert has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College and an Executive MBA in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University.
Tony Peretta is the Vice President- Operations and Terminals for United Metro Energy Corp. Tony has been with UMEC and its predecessor since 2008. He has been responsible for managing the service department, oil dispatch, the customer service group, maintenance and all trucking operations. Tony's responsibilities additionally include oversight for the Brooklyn and Calverton terminals.
Tony Camodeo is Manager of Wholesale & Commercial Sales. He has been with the company for 18 years and has over 25 years experience in the energy industry. His responsibilities include distillate and gasoline sales for United Metro's three terminals: Brooklyn, Calverton, and Riverhead. Along with the wholesale business, Tony is responsible for delivered-in motor fuel sales. Through direct communication and interaction with a wide array of companies in various industries such as trucking, school buses, heavy construction, and marinas, Tony regularly educates consumers on the benefits of using United Metro’s cleaner diesel fuels.
Chris Donnellan has over 20 years experience in all aspects of fuel and energy sales. Chris routinely interacts with Business Owners, Facility and Operation Managers, Property Managers, Realtors and residential property owners in the Greater NY Area to help provide solutions for commercial and residential usage of heating oil, diesel fuel, biofuel and natural gas supply. A graduate of St. Joseph’s College, Chris spends his free time writing and enjoying the outdoors with his teenage son.
Joe Zubin is Director of Safety and Compliance for United Metro Energy Corp. Joe has been with UMEC since 2014 and in the oil industry for over 25 years. Under Joe’s leadership, the USDOT safety rating and the number of reportable incidents are the lowest in the history of the company and its predecessor.
Ed Abreu has been Supervisor of Customer Service since 2008 and has worked in the customer service field for the past 5 ½ years. His duties span everything from customer inquiries on accounts, reception, pricing, opening up new accounts and bids, receiving orders, to inter-service calls, follow-ups, changes, and requests for delivery instructions, and logging notes of customer interaction.
